The barley shochu sold by Yagi Shuzo (Nara Prefecture) is popular for its Hanazada liqueur. This one also has labels of flowers and plants, which is very impactful.
More than 1,000 years ago, Nara's deer have been treated as messengers of the gods and protected since legend has it that they rode a white deer to Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
A small sake brewery in Nara Town, the closest place to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, carefully makes domestic barley using white koji. Barley Soju, which does not seek efficiency or mass production, is full of inherent pleasure in enjoying waste.
The traditional Japanese business card "Autumn Leaf Deer" drawn on the label has a mysterious and noble image.
